In a bid to work for the comprehensive development, eight like-minded persons who hail from the village have constituted Students’ Agriculture and Village Ennoblement (registered as SAVE Trust) Trust in Doddashettykere which is situated just a kilo meter away from the Shreerangapattana-Beedar highway.
The village spread across the sprawling 2100 acres of land in Tumkuru district belongs to Mayasandra hobali and has a population of around 1000 (one thousand) comprising of 200 families which depend mainly on agriculture and animal husbandry.
There are more than fifty students who are studying primary and higher-primary classes in the Kannada medium Government Higher Primary School. The school is being run by four dedicated teachers and two mid-day meal workers.
An Anganavadi is extending pre-school education to 15 kids with the help of a teacher and an assistant. Also around 30 students study in the convent schools in Mayasandra, which is near to the village.
The history of the villages goes thus: the village once was a capital of Manchanayaka, a stately king in the kingdom of Veera Narasimha of Hoysala dynasty in the 12th century. Fort, Shreeranganatha temple and the monuments built at the time are still seen.
